Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar join publicity to boycott Maldives - Indians have cancelled Maldives trip

All bookings for flights to the Maldives are suspended by EaseMyTrip.

Following the insulting remarks made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the co founder and CEO of EaseMyTrip, Nisha Pitti, announced the suspension of all flight reservations in the Maldives.

Indians cancelled around 8,000 hotel reservations and 2500 flight reservations for the Maldives.

Several Indian celebrities and social media influencers have joined an online campaign calling for a boycott of the Maldives and its tourist destinations, as the controversy continues to escalate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lakshadweep, during which he launched development projects and explored the beautiful beaches of that island, has been a catalyst for this ongoing conflict. Some individuals in the Maldives, including government officials, seem to have been provoked by Prime Minister Modi's efforts to boost tourism.

PM Modi recently visited Lakshadweep and shared images in his social media, which took the Internet by storm. He tweeted images of snorkelling and enjoying morning walks, which garnered a lot of attention.

This led many Indian social media users to propose the island Union Territory as a viable alternative tourist destination to the Maldives.
